Welcome to Sophie's #BurnoutTruth Story

Burnout to me is something I’ve only ever associated with my diabetes and something I learnt and experienced a LOT from the diabetic community. At first I thought this was normal to constantly be feeling rough and run down and emotionally drained. Then I learnt that actually my diabetes needed adjusting!

Now I know how to spot my signs of burnout generally or with diabetes (often hard to tell apart!). I see my sugars starting to rise more often and too stubborn to come back down, needing more insulin through the night for my dawn phenomenon.

Burnout is okay and is normal but you must take time out to deal with it and make adjustments.

If it happens frequently, take a step back to look at how you could make changes to help!

Behind the Burnout Truth Campaign

We believe it's important to continue our commitment with sharing the support as at the end of the day,  we understand and acknowledge that diabetes management is a 24/7 experience.

With that in mind, we've created a #BurnoutTruth initiative to use this chance to shine a public light on an area that's often experienced in the dark by yourself.

Burnout truth is all about showing the realness of having chronic illness burnout and normalising this experience so that others out there know that it is real. By sharing different community stories, we hope that we're able to communicate that the main message is to know that these things happen because you’re a human, whether it’s with diabetes or outside of having diabetes. 😊
