Ingredients:

  • 4 Weet-bix crushed
  • ½ cup sultanas
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 200g can sweetened condensed milk
  • ¼ cup chocolate sprinkles

 Method:

  1. Add all the ingredients into a large bowl except for the chocolate sprinkles and mix well.
  2. Form mixture into 15balls and toss in sprinkles until covered.

Dietician notes:

  • Add nuts of your choice to add a variety of flavour and extra crunch.

Why are these ingredients beneficial:

1. Chocolate:

  • Dark chocolate is lower in sugar and rich in antioxidants, which may help improve insulin sensitivity.
  • Choosing chocolate with at least 70% cocoa can offer benefits without causing significant blood sugar spikes.
  • Enjoy in moderation to satisfy sweet cravings while managing blood sugar levels.

2. Sultanas:

  • Sultanas are high in natural sugars but also provide fiber, which can help regulate blood sugar when paired with low-glycemic foods.
  • They offer essential nutrients like iron and potassium, supporting overall health for people living with diabetes.
  • Consume small portions to avoid blood sugar fluctuations.

Thank you for these delicous recipes. There are several I would like to try. The chocolate balls FIRST 😋🤗🤗🤗. Initially I started to look tonight, Subday, as I am having catarsct surgery Friday afternoon 1st Sept.My plan is to have 3 Bel Vita breakfast biscuits, someone said I should have some protein. So, cobfused all over again ! I know you can’t give advice, so halving my long & short acting insulins. Fasting starts at 7.40am. Then 2 hours sipping clear liquids, then 2 hours of nothing. Wish me luck please. Gayle Allen
