What you can do to help manage your T2D and avoid health complications.
While there is no cure for T2D, this condition can be managed through lifestyle changes and medication too. Being mindful of administering effective diabetes management will help you avoid any diabetes-related complications later down the track
Basic management overview for T2D: Modify lifestyle
The following steps can help you manage and modify your lifestyle:
- Eating well, which can help you better manage your Blood Glucose Levels (BGL) and your weight
- Exercising regularly, which can help to regulate insulin in your body, lower your blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease
- Regularly tests to monitor your BGL and see if your treatment/approach plan needs to be changed
Making sure your BGL is as close to your personalised target range (talk to your diabetes educator, GP or endocrinologist) is essential to avoid long-term diabetes complications.
