Here's the uncomfortable truth: most sharps containers require you to manually insert needles, risking accidental needlestick injuries. They're also bright yellow, bulky, and scream "medical waste" to everyone around you. Glucology Pen Needle Pocket Container changes that completely. Our twist-in design lets you dispose of your needle without ever touching it – just screw your pen directly into the container opening. One of the smallest sharps containers available, it's discreet enough to fit in your pocket. Safe disposal doesn't mean sacrificing safety or discretion.
Unlike bulky yellow sharps containers, Glucology delivers:
✅ Unique twist-in design – Screw pen needle directly into container opening without touching the sharp
✅ Minimum needlestick risk – Never handle exposed needles; your fingers never come near the sharp
✅ Discreet design – Compact, stylish container that doesn't look medical (pocket-sized, not bulky)
✅ Ultra-portable – Fits perfectly in pockets, handbags, gym bags, travel cases, or backpacks
✅ FDA-Registered – Meets strict FDA clearance requirements for sharps disposal
✅ Puncture-resistant & leak-proof – Heavy-duty plastic construction prevents needlestick injuries
✅ Safety-tested design – Secure closure prevents spillage and protects anyone handling waste
✅ Perfect for insulin & GLP-1 pens – Safely disposes of pen needles, lancets, and other small sharps

Q: How does the twist-in design make disposal safer than traditional sharps containers?
A: Unlike standard small sharps containers that require manual needle insertion, Glucology's twist-in design eliminates that risk entirely. Simply screw your pen directly into the opening and twist clockwise. The needle releases safely inside without your fingers ever touching the sharp. This makes it especially safe for people with neuropathy, arthritis, or reduced hand steadiness.
Q: Is the Glucology Pen Needle Pocket Container FDA-registered and ISO-certified?
A: Yes. The Glucology small sharps container is FDA-registered and ISO-certified, meeting strict international standards for sharps disposal devices. You can verify the listing directly on the FDA registry. This confirms it is a clinically tested, approved medical device, not a generic storage container.
Q: What's the difference between this container and bulky yellow sharps bins?
Four key differences: the twist-in design means you never handle exposed needles; this small sharps container fits in a pocket or handbag rather than taking up bench space; the neutral appearance doesn't draw attention the way standard yellow bins do; and the slide-to-lock mechanism permanently seals the container when full for secure disposal.
Q: Can I take it on a plane when travelling?
A: Yes, the Glucology travel sharps container is TSA-compliant and suitable for air travel. Carry empty containers in carry-on luggage. Used sharps should be transported in checked luggage, sealed and locked. Always declare medical supplies if asked by security, and arrange disposal at your destination. Its compact, pocket-sized design makes it one of the most practical travel sharps containers available.
Q: How often do I need to replace the container?
A: Replace your small sharps container when it reaches three-quarters full, slide to lock and take it to a disposal point. Depending on injection frequency, one container typically lasts 2–4 weeks for daily injections, or 2–3 months for weekly injections such as GLP-1 medications.
Q: How often do I need to replace the container?
A: Yes. This travel sharps container meets Australian and international air travel requirements for carrying medical sharps. Insulin users and GLP-1 medication users are permitted to travel with their injection supplies and a sealed sharps container. A letter from your prescribing doctor is recommended as supporting documentation.
Q: What is the maximum capacity of each sharps container?
A: Each Glucology small sharps container holds approximately 100 pen needles or lancets. Seal and replace once it reaches three-quarters capacity, do not overfill, as this compromises the safety of the locking mechanism.
Q: How do I dispose of a full sharps container in Australia?
A: Once your small sharps container is slide-locked and full, take it to your nearest disposal point. Options in Australia include local council waste facilities (many offer free sharps drop-off), participating pharmacies, and medical waste collection services. Label the sealed container as "Biohazard – Medical Waste" before disposal.
Q: Can this sharps container be used with all needle sizes?
A: The Glucology travel sharps container is designed for standard pen needles (4mm–8mm) and lancets commonly used with insulin pens and glucose monitoring devices. It is not suitable for full-length syringes or larger gauge needles. Check compatibility if you use a non-standard pen needle size.

Love having these pocket containers as a safe way to dispose of my pen needles after dosing and for lancets after testing bgl during work time or when out & about. It fits nearly into my glucology case and is such a handy piece of kit in my diabetic care.

Thanks for the review Annette!

Convenient size and design to hold blood contaminated needles and test strips. Limited size and volume is handy for traveling. Carry a second or third container if traveling for extended periods.
If you're using full syringes, even the small ones, this is too small. It was relatively easy for me to pop back open after it was supposedly "permanently" closed. Not the most secure if in a bag that will get thrown around or if near small kids maybe.
Cool idea for travel
Thank you for the review Jo! I'm glad to hear that you are happy with the sharps bins.
In the past, we always took one of the large sharps containers on trips with us. Of course, they take up quite a bit of space.
A few months ago, I knew we were planning on some trips and I thought, " I wonder if there isn't a "travel sharps container"? I was SO happy to see this. We received TWO, which was perfect so I had one and my Dad had one. We had no problems using them, and it worked as easily as I had hoped for him.
Thank you - Thank you - Thank you!
Note: There are clear instructions, but remember - close it "gently" when using regularly. When full, close the "entire" way to lock. (If you "lock" it accidently, however, it is super easy to "unlock" it again.)
Thank you for the review Kenai! I'm glad to hear that you are happy with the Pen Needle Containers.
Our pen needles did not fit.
This product is perfect and fits so easily in my purse or in the car or anywhere I’m at. This will always be my go to…
