So, whether you're newly diagnosed with diabetes or have been managing it for years, this video is for you. Let's dive in!
Check Blood Sugar Regularly - Before hitting the road, ensure your blood sugar is within the safe range. Test it before long drives and during breaks to avoid potential lows.
Carry Fast-Acting Glucose - Always keep glucose tablets, juice, or sugary snacks handy in case of hypoglycaemia. If you feel symptoms of low blood sugar, pull over immediately and treat it.
Wear Medical ID - Wearing a medical ID bracelet or carrying a card that indicates you have diabetes helps first responders assist you quickly in case of an emergency.
Avoid Driving If Blood Sugar Is Low - Never start driving if your blood sugar is low. Wait 15 minutes after treating a low and test again to ensure you're in a safe range.
Inform Passengers About Your Diabetes - Let passengers know you have diabetes and how they can help if you experience symptoms while driving. This can provide extra safety and peace of mind on the road.
